A winery tour in Minnesota? You betcha! We've gathered a list of our favorite wineries in the St. Croix Valley area, so grab some friends for a fun day (or weekend) in one of our favorite areas of Minnesota. We recommend starting the closest to the Twin Cities and furthest south, near Stillwater, and work your way north, to Taylors Falls, but you can go in either direction! Just make sure you have a designated driver for the day, otherwise, enjoy these 8 wineries in the St. Croix Valley!

Our Essential Travel Resources :
There are plenty of travel companies, but these are my favorite websites and resources for planning an unforgettable trip. This post may contain affiliate links, which means I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.

For flights, we recommend Hopper to compare the cheapest travel dates.

Car rentals comparisons are best through Discover Cars - just make sure to bring your international driver's permit with you!

We always use Expedia's easy to use platform for hotels.

To keep cell service while traveling internationally, we always use Airalo’s
easy eSIM’s (no installation required), and NordVPN to stay safe while connecting to different wifi.

For fun things to do, we always recommend Viator to find the best tours in the area, otherwise Get Your Guide also does the trick.

Just in case, Safetywing is the insurance I always use for travel insurance.

Lastly, my packing list for any international or domestic travels.

Wineries in Minnesota, What to Expect

There are plenty of wineries to enjoy in Minnesota, whether they're in the St. Croix Valley or elsewhere. Most wineries are very laid back and don't require reservations, but it's important to check beforehand with each winery. Many of the wineries also have outdoor seating, so pets might be allowed - but again, I would check with individual wineries before bringing your furry friend.

If you do plan to do a fun road trip or bachelorette party following this route of wineries near the St. Croix Valley in Minnesota, I recommend ending with Wild Mountain Winery since they have cute glamping tents right onsite.

8 Best Wineries in the St. Croix Valley

1. St. Croix Vineyards, Stillwater
They've been in the business for over 30 years! Here, you can start your day with a free private wine tour each Saturday, just make sure to reserve them in advance. They're also right next to the Ammodt's Apple Farm, making it a cute setting for some fun photos!

2. Domacin Winebar, Stillwater
Domacin Winebar (and wine shop) has a great food menu and over 600 selections of wine. Located in downtown Stillwater, they also have a wine club so you can take some of your favorites home. It's a classy way to enjoy some sips of wine at their indoor "Cellar."

3. Rustic Roots Winery, Scandia
Rustic Roots Winery, located in between the Marine on St. Croix and Osceola, is a large winery with lots of fun options! They have indoor seating (reservations recommended) and outdoor seating (first come first serve), with fun drink options like wine slushies and Minnesota shaped wine flights! When we last visited, they also had a food truck on site.

4. Dancing Dragonfly Winery, St. Croix Falls
The Dancing Dragonfly Winery is one of our favorite wineries we've visited in Minnesota. Not only do they have a great flight option, but each wine in the flight comes with a pairing of food - think cheeses, dips, and fudge. They also ask that you make a reservation for the tasting room, whether it's for indoor or outdoor seating, but it's worth it. In addition to cute views of their vineyard, you can also enjoy some larger food options like paninis, wraps, flatbreads, and pizzas.

5. Deer Lake Winery, St. Croix Falls
Deer Lake Winery is the furthest east on our list from St. Croix Falls. They have a great outdoor seating area with yard games and also serve craft beer and espresso drinks for a mid afternoon pick me up.

6. Chateau St. Croix, St. Croix Falls
This local winery is shaped like a castle, and that by itself makes it worth a stop. They have a great selection of wines and dessert options to pair with, and we also love how many events they have throughout the year, like their New Years Eve masquerade party! Personally, I felt like they could have done a bit more to celebrate the castle theme on the interior, but it's still a fun stop.

7. Wild Mountain Winery, Taylors Falls
This little winery is a fun stop, you even get 3 free tastings while you're there. With fun board games available, they even have glamping and camping spots on location, although you'll have to reserve those in advance. This local winery had my favorite rosé from the wineries on this list, plus some great wood fired pizzas!

8. Winehaven Winery, Chisago City
Winehaven Winery has a stunning property, and have won multiple awards for their wine. Since they're also available for weddings, the exterior is beautiful and perfect for photos with their vineyard in the background. They also have fun events throughout the year, like their Annual Cheese and Chocolate Weekend.
