Flow AK, Rafting Sixmile Creek

A few months ago we were given the opportunity to head out on a rafting tour with Flow AK - although this was gifted to us as part of a collaboration, the following review is our complete, honest opinion. Rafting with Flow AK

Flow AK offers a few different options for rafting - they have scenic floats for families (towards the beginning of Sixmile Creek and out in Turnagain Arm) and their second option is rafting Sixmile Creek for the adventurists. (We did the rafting trip as we had already done a float trip down the Kenai earlier in the summer!) Sixmile Creek is a tough river, and they even have a 12+ age limit. The rafting adventure begins near Hope, and they will bring you from their store location to the river drop off and pick up location via their shuttle bus. On the trip, you will go down 3 different canyons, with a bit of a float break between the 1st and 2nd canyons. Each canyon gets more technical and difficult as you progress, with the 1st canyon being a Class 3 and the last canyon being a Class 5. Before beginning the trip, they will outfit you with shoes, a dry suit, life jacket, helmet, and paddle. They also require you to complete a short swim test in the river as you begin the adventure. The entire rafting trip takes about 3 hours and is $200 per person.

The Craziest Adventure Ever

To be honest, we only recommend this trip if you are really looking for an epic Alaskan adventure - and an adrenaline rush! We had an incredible time, but we did both fall out and ended the trip a little bruised. (Actually, a lot bruised.) But, we felt 100% safe with Flow AK and they definitely knew what they were doing. (Their guides have the most combined experience compared to other companies on the river!)

HOWEVER, we had such a fun time and would recommend this tour for the price (and simply the epic adventure)! It was incredible and the canyons were each so beautiful - you really were able to see a side of Alaska that you don't always get to see. Our guide also told us there was a chance of seeing wildlife like bears and moose on the river sides! Plus we had an adrenaline rush for HOURS afterwards! Have any questions?
