Major Marine Tours - Our Favorite Boat Tour in Alaska

In May we were given the opportunity to head out on a tour with Major Marine Tours - although this was gifted to us as part of a collaboration, the following review is our complete, honest opinion. About Major Marine Tours

Major Marine Tours has a couple different tour options for you, all based out of Seward, Alaska! Their tours range from 4 hours to 8.5 hours, and they even have an Orca specific cruise! Previously, we've done the 7.5 hour Kenai Fjords National Park cruise and the 4 hour wildlife cruise. Their staff is very professional, boats are very clean, and their longer tours include a deli lunch and dessert! They also provide binoculars to anyone who would like to use them, and we've had some of our best marine wildlife encounters with them! All their tours are also fully narrated, and you'll have the chance to see orcas, humpbacks, porpoises, sea lions, seals, puffins, and eagles!

The 4 hour wildlife cruise is $99 per adult, and the 7.5 hour cruise is $199 per adult. Check in is right downtown and their boats leave from the marina.

Our Honest Review

We can't say if it was the time of the year or the longer amount of time we had out in the water, but we 100% recommend the 7.5 hour tour over the 4 hour tour. PLUS, they hauled in some glacier ice for everyone and made glacier margaritas for a fun treat! We highly recommend a tour with Major Marine Tours, you won't regret it! Our one tip is to bring extra SD cards and to take some Dramamine, you don't want to ruin your experience just because you aren't feeling good!

If you're visiting Seward, you have to do this tour! One of our favorite things to do is seeing the wildlife in Alaska, and we've had our closest encounters with Major Marine Tours! We do want to share however, that there was a big difference in our experience from the 4 hour tour and the 7.5 hour tour that we did. We did the 4 hour tour last summer, right at the end of August, and saw only 2 orcas and 1 humpback in the distance (along with seals and sea lions) - but when we did the 7.5 hour cruise in May we had so many whale encounters I lost track! We even had a pod of orcas swim right under our boat! It was such an unreal experience and I was in awe.
