We've rounded up 25 of our all time favorite, most unique, and future bucket list stays in the Last Frontier. Think we missed a spot? Let us know in the comments!
1. Captain Cook Hotel, Anchorage
Notably one of the most popular hotels in Alaska, the Hotel Captain Cook is where the Presidents & any celebrities stay when visiting Anchorage! As one of the tallest buildings in Anchorage, they have stunning views and an incredible penthouse suite.
2. The Lakefront, Anchorage
The Lakefront Anchorage is very central, and only about a 5 minute drive from the Anchorage airport! They also have onsite dining, a fantastic view of Lake Spenard and Lake Hood, and complimentary 24/7 shuttles to the airport.
3. Eagle River Nature Center Riverside Yurt, Eagle River
The Riverside Yurt is a bit different, and for those looking for a simpler, more outdoorsy kind of stay. With about a mile hike in from the Eagle River Nature Center, the yurt comes equiped with a bunk bed, wood burning stove, a table, and two chairs. However, since you'll be in bear country it is essential to store your food accordingly. Eagle River Nature Center also has other yurts available as well!
4. Shearwater Cove, Seward
Shearwater Cove is on our future bucket list of stays, and for good reason. Not only are their yurts only accessible by boat, but they include unlimited kayaking and access to their hiking trails with your booking. They also have seen orcas, sea otters, and seals right from their property!
5. Orca Island Cabins, Seward
Orca Island Cabins is quite similar to Shearwater Cove, in the fact that their yurt rentals also include kayaking and they are also still on our bucket list of stays!
6. Salted Roots Cabins, Seward
Salted Roots Alaska has been on our list for a while, not only are their two A-Frames and two cottages right near the water, but they also offer onsite yoga classes and access to their sauna during your stay! You can also book out the entire property for a retreat or other event!
7. Resurrection Lodge, Seward
Resurrection Lodge is located right on Lowell Point, and with stunning views of the bay you'll have the chance to see all kinds of marine wildlife right from shore!
8. Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge, Fox Island/Seward
Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge is only accessible by a 12 mile boat ride. Afterwards, you'll have the entire Fox Island to yourselves (and other lodging guests of course). With sweeping views of Halibut Cove, keep your eyes out for whales!
9. Alyeska Resort, Girdwood
One of our favorite stays near Anchorage, Alyeska Resort is just that - a resort. With endless skiing, biking, and hiking trails for all seasons, prepare to recharge and relax with a getaway. Not only do they have many onsite dining options, but they've also just finished remodeling their newly opened Nordic Spa, which we definitely recommend stopping at!
10. Jeremy's Mountain Chalet, Girdwood
Although we haven't stayed here yet ourselves, we've heard this luxury, "entire place" rental is the perfect spot for bachelorette parties, family reunions, or other events! Jeremy's Mountain Chalet boasts 6 bedrooms, 9 beds, and 4 baths - accommodating a total of 16 guests!
11. Crow Pass Cabin, Girdwood
Crow Pass Cabin is not for the lighthearted vacationers - this cabin requires advanced planning and a 3 mile trip (with all your gear). Although we haven't been lucky enough to score reservations yet, we've heard that they occasionally have last minute cancellations! You can reserve this cabin here.
12. Between Beaches, Seldovia
Between Beaches in Seldovia is a secluded, remote, beachfront cabin across the Kachemak Bay from Homer. They have a sauna, hot tub, and excellent tidepooling!
13. Homer Inn & Spa, Homer
Homer Inn & Spa has stunning oceanfront views and an onsite ocean therapy spa!
14. West Wind Cabins, Homer
West Wind Cabins has been our most recent find on lodging options in Alaska! We not only love the architecture and design, but it's also only 3 minutes from downtown Homer!
15. Second Star Mansion by Alaska Luxury Adventures, Homer
Second Star Mansion is in a league of it's own, and not just because of the price. Their all inclusive packages include enough room for 24 guests, a private charter flight from Anchorage to Homer, and a personal chef. Not to mention the entire 2nd floor is inspired by Neverland from Peter Pan to encourage adventure! (p.s. did we mention the Bucketlist Family stayed here on their trip to Homer?!)
16. Borealis Basecamp, Fairbanks
Borealis Basecamp is the most epic lodging for watching the Northern Lights! Their igloo shaped domes have glass windows so you can watch the aurora from the comfort of your bed! Definitely bucket list worthy!
17. Aurora Express Bed & Breakfast, Fairbanks
Ok, so the Aurora Express Bed and Breakfast is hard to find. They don't have a website and they don't have social media, but this unique lodging made our list because where else can you stay in a renovated Alaska Railroad Train?! You can book this lodging here.
18. Mountain Field Farm, Palmer
The Mountain Field Farm is a stunning luxury lodging property. In addition to hosting weddings, they are located on a 20 acre flower farm!
19. Alpenglow Luxury Camping, Palmer
Alpenglow Luxury Camping allows you an opportunity to go glamping with stunning glacier views! At some points in the year they even head out on the glacier itself via helicopter!
20. Sheep Mountain Lodge, Palmer
Located near Matanuska Glacier, Sheep Mountain Lodge has been hosting guests for 80 years!
21. Denali Backcounty Lodge, Denali National Park
One of the only options inside Denali National Park that is not camping only. Since the Denali Park Road closure, guests can only access Denali Backcountry Lodge via helicopter - leaving a very limited number of guests.
22. Denali Wild Stay, Healy
Denali Wild Stay is perfect if you're looking to explore the Denali National Park area! Their secluded and rustic cabins have everything you need to relax and recharge!
23. Denali Cabins, Denali
Denali Cabins are at the top of our list for cabins in the Denali area! Their cute and cozy cabins are located 8 miles south of the Denali National Park entrance, and are much quieter than those located closer to the park itself. They also have excellent onsite dining!
24. Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge, Talkeetna
Owned by the same company that owns Denali Cabins (above), Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge has some of the best views of Denali. They also have some great onsite dining and a beautiful fireplace in the common area!
25. Coop Cabin, Nenana
We found this little gem via Instagram a few months ago, and instantly added it to our list.
Which one are you staying at first?! We can't wait to head back and cross off some more of these incredible properties from our list!
