Welcome to New York City, quite possibly the most well known city in the entire world. With endless hidden gems and a countless number of attractions, on our most recent visit we signed up for the Underground Donut Tour - a new experience popping up in major cities throughout the entire world - and for good reason. If you like exploring new cities and you like trying new foods, then this is the tour for you.

Our Essential Travel Resources :
There are a lot of travel companies out there, but some are better than others. These are our favorite websites and resources to help you plan an incredible trip.

For flights, we recommend using WayAway or Hopper to compare the cheapest dates to travel to your destination.

Car rentals comparisons are best through Discover Cars - just make sure to bring your international driver's permit with you if you're heading somewhere international!

We always use AGODA for hotels. They have an easy-to-use platform where you can compare the best rates.

To keep cell phone service if you're traveling internationally, we always use Airalo’s
easy to purchase eSIM’s (no installation required), and always use NordVPN to stay safe while connecting to different wifi connections.

For fun things to do, we always recommend Viator to find the best tours in the area, otherwise Klook also does the trick, especially for tours in Asia.

Just in case, Safetywing is the insurance I always use for travel insurance.

Lastly, my packing list for your international or domestic travels.

What to Expect on the NYC Donut Tour

Picture
We want to start out by pointing out that this isn't just a donut tasting tour, this is a walking tour of the city and some of the most unique areas and buildings, including the famous F.R.I.E.N.D.S apartment building and the Stonewall National Monument. We highly recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes as the tour lasts anywhere from 1.5-2 hours, with 4 different donut stops during your tour. We listed each place we stopped at and the donuts we got to try at each place :
  • Little Eataly - Nutella Bombalue (Italian Influence)
  • Dough Handmade Artisan Doughnuts - Passion Fruit Donut & Chocolate Brioche (Jewish/Hispanic Influence)
  • Mah ze Dah - Brioche with Cream Filling & Plain Donut Hole (Pakistani Influence)
  • The Donut Project - Everything Bagel Mini Donut & Olive Oil and Pepper Mini Donut
We want to point out that these stops can change, and since our visit some of these have also unfortunately closed down. It seems that the biggest concern of guests considering to book this adventure is whether or not you'll get to taste enough donuts - trust us, you will. We personally thought the portions were huge, and we even brought many of leftovers home with us!

Our Honest Review of the Underground Donut Tour

In our complete and honest opinion...this tour is AMAZING and we 100% recommend booking it for your next visit to New York City. Not only was it a great way to explore Greenwich Village and the surrounding area, but we also thought the portions were huge! We truly expected 4 small samplings or donuts, but between the two of us we ended up bringing about 4 full donuts home with us because we simply couldn't stuff them in. Our guide was also great, very kind and informative - and really made our tour fantastic. This is one of the most unique tours we've done and we would gladly do it again, whether in New York City or in any of the cities they now run this tour in!
