Basic Tour Information
The Minnewanka Lake Cruise takes you along Banff’s largest, widest, and deepest lake! Located about 20 minutes from the town of Banff, this lake cruise experience is part of the Pursuit Collection. The boat used for the lake cruise is cozy - enclosed and heated - and has a small outdoor section in the back. The Pursuit Collection also has small boats, kayaks, and canoes that are available for rental on the same dock as the lake cruise.
During the Summer they also have fishing and beer cruises! Once you board, you’ll have a guide narrating for the entire hour telling you about the history of the lake - including lake monsters, ghost towns, and the native people that once lived there. The short, 1 hour boat ride takes you to the middle of the lake, where you’ll pause for a few minutes, then turn around to make your way back to the docks.

Our Essential Travel Resources :
There are a lot of travel companies out there, but some are better than others. These are our favorite websites and resources to help you plan an incredible trip. For flights, we recommend using WayAway or Hopper to compare the cheapest dates to travel to your destination. Car rentals comparisons are best through Discover Cars - just make sure to bring your international driver's permit with you if you're heading somewhere international! We always use AGODA for hotels. They have an easy-to-use platform where you can compare the best rates. To keep cell phone service if you're traveling internationally, we always use Airalo’s easy to purchase eSIM’s (no installation required). For fun things to do, we always recommend Viator to find the best tours in the area, otherwise Klook also does the trick, especially for tours in Asia. Just in case, Safetywing is the insurance I always use for travel insurance. Lastly, my packing list for your international or domestic travels. Our Thoughts
To be 100% honest, this lake cruise wan’t our absolute favorite, only because it was a little slow for us. It was unique and definitely a neat experience to learn all about the history of the lake, but it was not as exciting as we’d typically like our adventures. The guides and staff were excellent and made it as exciting as they could with old pictures to help visualize their stories.
Although there is a snack booth on the shore, most things were sold out and the hot chocolate we got was basically warm water. It was however a nice boat ride on the lake, and an excellent way to get away from the crowds, but there is so much to do in Banff National Park that we would highly recommend either exploring the area on your own or renting your own vessel to really get out on the water and have some fun!
