11 MUST TRY Street Foods For Visitors in Old Delhi, India

3/10/2023

Comments

After exploring Delhi for a few days on our own, we were still unsure of what we could and couldn't eat, and thought the best way to try some of the incredible Indian food we'd heard so much about would be to take a tour! After comparing food tours on Viator, we found the best tour with the most trustworthy reviews, and thought we would try it out for ourselves. After meeting our guide in Connaught Place, we took a short subway ride to Old Delhi, and from there walked around trying an incredible amount of street food! Along the way we stopped at the largest spice market in Asia and were shown different temples! We highly recommend adding a food tour to your Delhi itinerary, even if you only have two days. Read on to see all that we tried, and which foods we recommend - and since we're writing this 48 hours later - we can confirm we didn't get sick!

Our Essential Travel Resources :
There are plenty of travel companies, but these are our favorite websites and resources for planning an unforgettable trip. This post may contain affiliate links, which means we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.

Car rentals are best through Discover Cars - just make sure to bring your international driver's permit with you!

We always use Expedia's easy to use platform for comparing hotels.

To keep cell service while traveling, we always use Airalo’s
easy eSIM’s (no installation required).

For fun things to do, we always recommend Viator to find the best tours in the America's and Europe, and Klook for tours in Asia.

Just in case, Safetywing is what we use for travel insurance.

Lastly, our packing list for any international or domestic travels.

  • Jalebi - similar to funnel cake, this Indian street food is made from a fried mix of flour and baking soda infused with saffron and rose water

  • Fennel Seeds with Sugar - not really a street food, but commonly served after meals in India
